Robots in CyberEmpires

by Patrick Lex C. Legaspi.   Created Nov./2001

(This is a list of purely imaginary robots that roam about in CyberEmpires.  These robotics concepts are purely the author's and are NOT from any governmental or private sources of any country.  This web site has no connection to the United States Government or any other country or any private companies involved in robotics.  Any similarities with any real machine or machines are coincidental.

When real robots are discussed or presented ( such as Asimo developed be American Honda Motor Co., Inc.), there will be cited sources and the reference to such robots will be labeled as real robots or currently existing robots.)

Note that non-military robots in CyberEmpires perform only tasks which are routine and non-threatening to humans.

Military robots will only engage enemy military robots.  Humans are not to be harmed (Addendum to international laws after initial robotic wars.).

Friendlies are to be protected - humans and robots.  Enemy civilian humans and robots are not to be engaged unless they pose a threat to friendly robots or friendly humans.

    Background

Vanguard Empire and other nations recently developed robots for civil and military use.  Civil robots are in use throughout CyberEmpires.  Military robots are currently confined to certain military units and are at their early but rare usage.   Nations agreed to settle conflicts using robots only and no human will be physically fighting battles.  Wars occur only after negotiations have been exhausted.

Other empires and nations include the Aquilan Empire, the nations of Leonexi, Drax, Ursania, Simiana, Canisus, Aureusum, Custozima and Tyrannium

Personal, Commercial and Industrial Robots

ButlerRob - the Butler robot acts as the personal assistant of the owner, just as a butler would be.

MaidRob - the Maid robot does things as a maid would do.

GuardRob - the Guard robot is in charge of security throughout the home and premises.

MaintentanceRob - maintains all operating systems in the entire property.

HandyRob - is the handyman of the robots.  He fixes most broken things.  Some are remotely controlled, some handle routine jobs automatically.

ConstructionRob - used for construction, anything that HandyRob can not handle.  Medium sized robots.  Some are remotely controlled, some handle routine jobs automatically.

HeavyConstructionRob -  Any job that neither HandyRob nor ConstructionRob can handle.  These are large remotely controlled robots.

Entertainment Robot

FriendlyRob - this robot acts as a friend and renders assistance and support.  It can also be modified to act as a family member or loved one.  Some of these robots have been sent to the cyborg research facilities to see if human thoughts can be transferred to the robot's system.

Other Friendlies have evolved to helping  entertainers such as singers, actors, instrumentalists, band members, etc.  At times, they themselves have performed as such.

Political Robots

CivRob - or the Civil Service Robot help in the political arena by assisting politicians in their everyday chores of civil duties. CivRobs can recorded and edited by video and audio all work activities by their assigned politicians and can be shown live or recorded if so desired by politicians during election campaigns to support their claims of working hard for the people.  CivRobs contain much information on local, national and international laws, customs, protocols, statistics, etc., much of which politicians most commonly use.

Military Robots

Drones - Drones are robots which are remotely controlled by operators.  There is some intelligence given to these drones.

Within drones are ground units, air units, marine units  and space exploration units.

Ground Units

Infiltrators

These robots are designed for reconnaissance and espionage.  They are camouflaged, silent, very low but can raise a camera above its body.  Its legs are designed to eliminate squeaking and metal to metal noise.  The size of these robots vary.  Some are as large as bulldogs.  Some are as small as insects.

The larger versions have 4 to 8 legs, can climb stairs, ladders, trees, etc.

The smaller versions can have 6 to 10 legs and can climb trees, walls; it can jump and glide.

Attack Drones

Remote controlled mechanized soldiers.  These drones range from quick (short range) kamikaze robots about a foot high to super heavy composites  with a range of multi-purpose weapons that stand up to ten feet high.   Mid-range robots can merge and lock to form a heavy or super heavy.  Kamikazes can be contained within mid-range, heavies, and super heavies.

Mechanized Morphers

Robots, remotely controlled by pilots, which are able to shape shift into a ground, air, marine or space unit.  These robots can also combine with other robots.

All ground units can merge with other ground, air and marine units to form a multipurpose unit.

Air Units

Air units range from nanorobot and super mini robot reconnaissance units (the size of a pinhead) to the  heavy attack/defense robots.

Air Nanorobots or Air Nanobots (ANs)  aka NanoSnoops, Nanomedics

CyberEmpire military nanobots are only deployed as medical, reconnaissance and surveillance units.  They are not used as weapons.  Each unit is identified with a unique serial number and name for accounting purposes.

These creatures are capable of gliding with air currents.  They are so small, they do not need propellers to move about.  Their flights are controlled by movable fins.

Microscopic in size, these robots are probably the most dangerous of all robots.  In the wrong hands, these creatures can be turned into genocidal weapons because of their unique qualities.  Like a virus, nanobots can infiltrate the body and can do countless damage.  The creatures ability to destroy is only limited to the imagination of the operator and/or programmer.

These creatures are not allowed to multiply nor given any independent decisions.   The results would be catastrophic if the nanobots make erroneous judgments and were able to multiply.  The error will be multiplied many times over and cause widespread problems which may include a danger to humans.

It would also be possible for these creatures to somehow act like a living virus concluding that its survival is paramount, and it will use any living or non living creature as a resource.  There would exist an unprecedented plague that would destroy the entire realm.

On the other hand,  these creatures may be the miracle workers that humanity needs.  The nanobots can be programmed to repair any damaged cells or body parts without the use of surgery.  The creatures can be programmed to destroy invading viruses and germs when the body's immune system has been compromised.  They can be programmed to solve almost any problem that cannot be solved by conventional means.

Currently, only some of the CyberEmpires military units has access to nanobots.

Super Mini Air Robots (SMARTbots) aka Germbots, GermSnoops,  GermMedics

These robots are slightly larger than nanobots and are used for surveillance, espionage and assassinations.  The size of a single celled creatures such as amoebas, these creatures can move about any terrain like germs and land on its intended victim without being seen.

These robots had been banned from service  and have been modified to attack robots onlyThe modified version has been put to active duty.  However, some of the inventory of the old version turned up missing.  Robotics police are currently investigating the disappearance.

These creatures are capable of short range flights with an on-board super mini camera.  If a positive i.d. can not be obtained, they can be programmed to identify targets by dna matching.  The robot takes a sample of the target's dna and brings it back to its source for testing while other robots cling onto the target until a positive i.d. can be obtained.  They can be programmed to perform their missions independently or  they can be controlled remotely from a short distance.  They can inject any toxic or poisonous compounds into the bloodstream.

They are difficult to detect or destroy because they are invisible to the naked eye.  Only special sensors can detect these creatures or the use of microscopes can reveal them.

These robots had been banned from service  and have been modified to attack robots only. The modified version has been put to active duty.  However, some of the inventory of the old version turned up missing.  Robotics police are currently investigating the disappearance.

Currently, only some of the CyberEmpires military units has access to SMARTs.

Mini Air Robots (MARbots) or  Insectbots aka Bugbots, BugMedics, BugSnoops

These robots are the size of insects and act like insects.  They are used as medical, surveillance, espionage and as attack units.  Robots as large as flies are used for infiltration of enemy units and retrieval of vital information.  Those designed for battle are equipped with poisoned stingers and act and look like bees and hornets.  They can also release poison, tear or stun gas.  Medical units are much the same but inject medical drugs.

They are equipped with mini-cameras and can be remotely controlled.

They can be easily destroyed, because they can be easily seen and because they are small.

These robots have been banned from service  and have been modified to attack robots only.  The modified version has been put to active duty.

Currently, only some of the CyberEmpires military units has access to MARbots.

Compact Robots

ComBots

Cybernetic Robots

    Cyberbots

Cyberbots are larger than the average human.  They can used as drones, independent robots or actually controlled by an on-board pilot.  The best use for these robots is the latter.  The pilot can make a better judgment (than an independent robot) as to whether a soldier or machine, for example, is an enemy unit or not and quickly react to the situation without any problems with transmissions that would occur if the robot is used as a drone.  Within cyberbots are ground, marine and air units.

These units are defensive and are  only used after unmanned units have been exhausted or become ineffective in a field of battle.  Humans are not to personally engage robotic units nor will they pilot robotic units unless absolutely necessary and so approved by the government of the country or countries involved.

Super Robots

    Superbots

Space Exploration

These robots vary in sizes and capabilities.  Probes gather information on and map heavenly bodies.  There are three types of probes: space, terran and abyss.  Within space probes are two types of probes: satellite and lander.  A satellite probe can wander into the deepest space but never lands on any heavenly body.  A lander will touch down and can gather information and samples and wander in a heavenly body then return to a CyberEmpire base or ship.

Diggers are delivered by probe landers or shuttle ships.  Diggers are categorized as Migers(Mine Diggers), CtBs(City-Builders), and Argers(ArchaeoDiggers ).

Terraformers are programmed to transform a heavenly body into a habitable world for humans.  They can be delivered by probes landers or shuttle ships.  Terraformers will work closely with CtBs and occasionally with Migers and Argers.  Terraformers will avoid transforming mining and archaeological sites until humans are allowed in these areas.

Builders (or CtBs) are programmed to build towns and cities on CyberEmpires or anywhere else in the CyberEmpires Universe.  They work closely with Terraformers and Argers in outer space.  Ocasionally, they will work with Migers to avoid areas that is designated for mining.

Migers or Mine-Diggers are equipped with sensors to sniff out resources such as water.  They are also equipped with conventional and state-of-the-art digging equipment. such as a laser.  They are controlled by a Supervisor robot that determines the Migers' goal, safety, performance and maintenance.

Maintenance robots ideally are equipped with every conceivable tools and equipment to maintain other robots and themselves.
